Up to $1,700 Income Tax Credit for TDI’s
For the uninitiated, the IRS is allowing up to $1300 tax credit for qualifying vehicles ($1700 for 2010 Golf TDI automatics), hybrids and clean burning diesels purchased prior to December 31st, 2010. The catch is that the credit is only allowed for the first 60,000 vehicles sold for each manufacturer.
So how do you know if the car you’re considering qualifies? Fortunately, the IRS publishes the most recent figures on their website. No need to fret TDI lovers…as of 11/6/09 VW had only sold 12,218 Jetta and Jetta SportWagen TDI’s.
If you’d like more information regarding this great incentive from Uncle Sam, your best bet is to contact your tax professional, but if you like to read government gobbledy-gook yourself, head on over here.
