So you’ve never heard of Tata Motors?  If gas continues to skyrocket that will change.  As if we don’t have enough doom & gloom there was an "expert" on CBS News tonight predicting $6 a gallon gasoline before winter…OUCH!

tata1 Well, Tata is the Indian company which recently purchased Jaguar and Land Rover.  They also sell the world’s cheapest car, which is pretty neat, but not as neat as this…a car that runs on air!  It’s no joke.  In fact, Tata is betting that this will be a hit worldwide.

Here we go again.  Why isn’t an American car company building something like this?  Hello?  Is anyone in Detroit listening?  I clearly remember the gas crisis of the 70′s when the Big Three almost went under because they couldn’t compete fast enough with the Japanese, who had been building quality fuel-efficient, inexpensive machines, that suddenly looked attractive to millions of Americans (sound familiar?).  Detroit’s answer?  The Pinto, Vega, and Dart, among other unexciting offerings.  As Yogi Berra says, this is "deja vu all over again"?  What do we see on the horizon from Detroit?  Let’s see, oh yes, there’s the hybrid Durango and Aspen.  Oh boy…instead of 14 mpg I can get 20 now?

News flash to Detroit:  At $6.00 a gallon, your SUVs, hybrid or not, will NOT SELL.

This car runs on compressed air and has a range of 125 miles.  The cost to refill the air?  About $4.00, which gives you a cost per mile of .032…less than a hybrid!
